Florida: A suspect who attempted to assassinate former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been arrested.
According to foreign news agencies, the suspect who attempted the assassination was arrested from Martin County.
Florida police reported that after opening fire on a golf course, the suspect fled, leaving behind a rifle. The police later apprehended him in Martin County. The alleged attacker also left behind two bags, a rifle, and a camera while fleeing.
According to foreign media, the arrested 58-year-old attacker has been identified as Ryan Wesley Roth, the owner of a small construction company. Ryan has no military background, but in the past, he expressed a desire to participate in the Ukraine war in his social media posts.
Media reports indicate that in 2023, Ryan Wesley told the New York Times that he had gone to Ukraine after the war began to recruit Afghan fighters to fight for Ukraine, and tried to get Ukraine’s permission for this.
The report also mentioned that in 2002, Ryan had barricaded himself inside a building while armed with automatic weapons.
In response to the alleged attack, Trump said, “I am safe and will never give up.”
It is worth noting that the shooting incident near Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, occurred while the former president was playing golf. This comes after a previous assassination attempt during a campaign rally in July, in which Trump was injured.
