Beijing: A new air cargo route connecting China’s southwestern Guizhou province with Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi, has been launched.
Marking the official launch of the airline, the entire cargo plane, carrying 6 tons of cargo including clothes, electronics and other goods, took off from Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province, on Tuesday morning and arrived in Karachi in about six hours, Xinhua reported.
According to Guiyang Customs, the plane will return from Pakistan to the blue crab town of Guiyang.
It is the first air route connecting Guizhou with Pakistan, as well as the first air transport route connecting the province with the Belt and Road Initiative.
Officials said the new airport will help Guiyang become a cargo distribution center in southwest China, while reducing the time it takes for high-quality Pakistani goods to reach Guizhou.
