Smog is another dilemma for the country which spread in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after harming the air in Punjab, in such an environment the citizens of the effected cities are facing breathing and eyesight problems. According to the news reports after world number one polluted city of Lahore now smog is hitting the cities of kpk. In Pakistan Lahore in the most polluted city of the country next to that air quality of Multan, Peshawar, Haripur kpk, Islamabad Rawalpindi Abbottabad kpk and Karachi is unsafe for the breathing of humans which is also damaging eyesight and it has an effect on age limit.
According to the reports a thick smoggy air floating from India, which has impacted air quality across Punjab is now moving towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, worsening the province’s atmosphere.
The impact of the ongoing smog crisis in Pakistan has continued to intensify, as the hazardous air toxins from India engulf the region and contaminate the air, with Lahore being one of the most polluted cities in the country on the global air pollution ranking.
The city’s air quality index (AQI) level recorded three days back at 10am reached 613 on the real-time list of Swiss group IQ Air. Lahore’s AQI level was stood at 509 with city topping the list in Pakistan, followed by Multan with 469 on second position and Peshawar at the third rank with 457.
Meanwhile, IQ, air (PM2.5) pollutants — the fine particulate matter in the air that causes the most damage to health — were earlier recorded at 382.2, which was 76.4 times higher than the World Health Organization’s (WHO) annual air quality guideline value.
After affecting various cities in Punjab, smog spread beyond the province, blanketing some of the districts in KP, where citizens complained of eye and throat infections and breathing issues.
After Punjab’s Multan, where the AQI was recorded at 587 three day back, KP capital Peshawar ranked the third most polluted city in the country, with an AQI of 587, a level deemed hazardous by the Swiss air quality monitor.
The city’s worst hit by air pollution after Lahore and Multan were Bahawalpur, Faisalabad and Sargodha where air quality was poor.
Connecting arteries and thoroughfares including Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, Motorways M1, M2 and M5 were blocked at various points causing traffic disruptions in Punjab. Moreover, roads connecting Punjab with Sindh and inter-provincial border areas were also hit by smog.
Multiple casualties were reported in separate road accidents due to dense smog and consequent low visibility
Therefore, the above worse condition is alarming for the officials and politicians of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa take up the spreading issue with the government of Punjab to take combine actions against the deadly smog. As the citizens are witnessing that from the last two or three weeks the atmosphere very smoggy in provincial capital Peshawar due which patients of asthma and chest infection are hardly take breathing. The medical physicians warns that if this smog continues spreading then it will effect more citizens. Thus it is the responsibility of both provincial leaders and officials to make a comprehensive plan to counter the smoggy air pollution.
One week back the chief minister Maryam Nawaz made a desirable statement the both India and Pakistani side of Punjab should work together to overcome on smog. There the question is that if India and Pakistan could work together then why not both the provinces would make that collation! Infect it is very serious matter, why not yet both provincial administrations are avoiding such good cause? If we cannot makes such a liaison between our two provinces for the betterment of citizens then how could be it possible to work with India? Therefore both the provincial chiefs must think about that important matter for the sake of humanity.
