Karachi: The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has decided to set up a special agency to issue premium marks after collecting huge amount from the auction.
According to press officials, the decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in Karawang.
Memon also announced that the second round of auction to release premium numbers will start soon. “The first phase of digit auction was successful and it won the hearts of the people.”
In the province’s first toll auction, the Sindh government’s Excise and Taxation Department on June 30 collected a total of $675.4 million from the auction of 40 major tolls in the first round.
He won $100 million from auction number 1, $53 million from auction number five, $46 million from number one, $41 million from number eight, and $40 million from auction number nine.
The winner is presented with a certificate of ownership of the first number plate.
Using the occasion, Memon announced that the proceeds from the auction for the first number plate of the vehicle will be used for the noble cause of 2022 flood victims of Sindh.
Meanwhile, the provincial excise department has decided to allow people to get number plates for their vehicles from the comfort of their homes.
Forum decided: “Motorcycle registration office will be established in the southern district, this service will be available even in the evening.”
The Minister ordered to make the vehicle registration process easier. He said he wants to run the department in a “corporate way.”
