Karachi: The Sindh government has announced an initiative to provide interest-free loans to the middle class for installing solar systems.
Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah addressed the media at his residence and shared this message, greeting people on Eid al-Adha and urging people to remember the martyrs.
In his speech, the Minister acknowledged the various issues faced in the region and expressed the government’s efforts to solve these problems through the budget. He said ongoing projects would be prioritized and promises made to the public would be fulfilled.
He also announced measures to ensure clean water supply in Sindh. He pointed out that more than 200,000 houses in the province are still without electricity.
To solve this problem, the government plans to electrify 500,000 people every year. Initially, very poor families would buy a solar system capable of running a fan and three bulbs.
The government introduced an interest-free loan scheme for those who want to build their own solar systems. Interest on this loan will be paid by the Government of Sindh. In addition, Shah announced plans to build two power plants in each district of Sindh to improve the region’s energy infrastructure.
