According to an estimate 65% of Pakistan’s population consists of young people including boys and girls between the ages of eighteen to twenty-eight years and the government has no program to provide them with employment, which has led to an increase in unemployment.
At the same time social problems are also increasing rapidly. Although it is good for the economy of any country to have a large number of working people but it is useful when the economy is flourishing and there are good employment opportunities are present in the country but when the economic condition of the country is bad and employment is not available then this young population becomes a burden on the countries.
As a result of which such societies become victims of economic misery and misbehavior. That is what happening with the young population of Pakistan who are either suffering from apathy or leaving the country due to unemployment.
The twin crises of rising inflation and unemployment due to the declining economic condition of the country a large number of citizens are crossing the borders illegally, many of whom die due to fraud by agents and smugglers.
On the other hand these inhumane and illegal trafficking elements extort huge sums of money from people who want to go abroad. During the last three to four years the illegal migration of people is increasing day bay day. According to media reports publishing in main stream media, smugglers are charging Rs 0.5 million to Rs 5 million to transport a person through the border or bring them to Europe from the mountainous areas for the better fortune in the future. In the hope of finding a better life people leave their families behind and put themselves in a vulnerable position where they can fall into the hands of various gangs or even be captured by the official authorities.
Along with this is the problem of human trafficking where abducted children or women are smuggled out of the country through specific routes. Incidents have also come to light where security personnel work hand in hand with smugglers as bribery is also on the rise.
While many believe that strengthening security and border checks along with punishing criminals will help reduce the problem. It is not a final solution and only a remedial measure. The heart of this problem lies in the standard of living that Pakistan offers extremely low quality of life indices, deteriorating urban infrastructure and services, lack of health care and severely limited employment opportunities are forcing people to resort to extreme measures.
So Citizens must be promised and developed thus the daily life of citizens becomes less of a struggle for survival.
The government should realize that such problems cannot be solved on a war footing as only steady development and fulfillment of long-held promises will reduce the hardships of the people. For that purpose instead of creating emergency programs the government has to create long-term programs that are attractive to the youth so that they prefer to work in their own country instead of going abroad because of due to lack of skills and low wages at local level.
They think that they can earn more abroad. But the problem is that when such youths go out they are hired on very low wages because they have no skills.
Therefore the government needs to create the best programs to prepare these youth for labor in other countries otherwise this youth population of the country will be lost and this will continue to increase the long-standing problems of the country.
It is hoped that the incoming government will also focus on the most important issue of youth unemployment.
