Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced on Tuesday that he has named Sher Afzal Marwat as the chairman of the powerful Public Accounts Committee (PAC), ending a controversy. former ruling party.
“Once the party chooses Marwat’s name, all debates are over,” the PTI leader said during an interaction with reporters in Rawalpindi.
Last week, PTI General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, said that Marwat should be made the PAC chairman by the party founder. Previous names of Sunni Union Council (SIK) Hamid Khan and Hamid Raza made headlines for the top post of PAC.
Earlier, senior party leader Latif Khosa announced that PTI has decided to appoint senior leader Hamid Khan as PAC chairman.
“We are not communicating outside or negotiating with anyone,” Gohar said, categorically denying media reports that the PTI had formed a committee to hold talks with the military establishment.
According to media reports, PTI has formed a three-member committee consisting of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz to hold talks with the military establishment.
Speaking to Naya Pakistan’s Geo News programme, senior PTI leader Shahriar Afridi said last week that his party would “hold talks with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI)”. Talk to ‘rejected people’ who come to Parliament through ‘Form 47’.
Responding to another question, the PTI chief said that they have been in touch with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a political enemy of Imran, in connection with anti-government protests.
Relations between PTI and JUI-F improved significantly after the two parties found “ideological alignment” after the “fake” general elections on February 8.
“We will talk to everyone except MQM-P, PPP and PML-N.”
It is worth mentioning here that the PTI founder has repeatedly stated that he will not sit with thieves.
Last week, the government and the opposition in the lower house of parliament struck a power-sharing deal that will see 26 committee seats in the treasury and 11 in the opposition seats, including the top PAC.
Talking to reporters, the PTI leader said that PTI DPRD members were not given the opportunity to speak in the DPR.
The PTI chief feels that he has been “politically sacrificed by his party” by the current government. He said cases were registered against PTI leaders and workers despite “peaceful protests”.
Responding to another question, Gohar said Imran’s release was “important” and said they were trying to get the former prime minister out of jail before Eid.
