ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need for tough decisions and said that the IMF’s goals cannot be achieved through mere rhetoric.
Chairing a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said ministries must step up their efforts as the goals set by the global lender cannot be achieved through mere rhetoric.
Shehbaz emphasized the importance of self-responsibility in achieving economic goals and urged institutions and provinces to work closely together to achieve this goal.
The prime minister ordered immediate relief in electricity bills, stressing the urgency of improving electricity transmission lines and tackling electricity theft to save significant costs.
During the meeting, Shehbaz also emphasized the need for strict security measures during Muharram.
Shehbaz described his recent visits to Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and meetings with Russian President Putin and discussions in China as fruitful.
He said the state Pakistan was in was obvious to everyone, adding that “my focus remains on action”.
