DHAKA: Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed that he will take part in the two-match Test series against Pakistan starting in August.
After the two-Test series against Pakistan, Bangladesh will play two Tests and three T20Is against India from September 19 to October 12, and Shakib is not sure whether he will be available for the series against the T20 World Cup champions.
Shakib currently has commitments for Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 from July 4 and Global T20 League Canada 2024 from July 25, after which he will decide his participation in the India series.
For now, Shakib is only focused on the red ball series against Pakistan and will decide after that.
“I don’t have many plans. “I have two T20 tournaments ahead of me, one is the MLC and the other is the Global T20 League in Canada, and let me see where I stand after playing those two tournaments because I need to understand [how I feel],” he said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
“There is international cricket and there are some matches against Pakistan, I plan till now and I don’t plan anymore. Now I don’t have time to plan for three to four years, so it’s better to plan for three to six months and I will think about my plan next and until now I plan to reach the Pakistan series,” he said.
Neither Pakistan nor Bangladesh have announced their squad for the 2023-25 World Cup series so far.
It should be noted that now Pakistan and Bangladesh are also participating in the T20 World Cup 2024. Babar Azam’s team made it out of the group stage, but the Tigers advanced to the Super 8 of the tournament.
