Former captain Shahid Afridi on Monday highlighted the batting quality of Pakistan’s batsmen after the Babar Azam-led side won the second T20I against Ireland on Sunday.
Pakistan beat Ireland by seven wickets in the second T20I to level the third series 1-1.
“We need this win. Good team, especially playing Rizwan and Fakhar. We need the same mindset in the World Cup and the same batting for most of the batsmen,” he said.
“Congratulations to Shahi on 300 international wickets, well done,” he said.
The Men in Green chased down 17th on the back of performances from Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Azam Khan.
But Rizwan and Fakhar paired up and formed an amazing relationship. The 140-run partnership is Pakistan’s highest for the 3rd wicket in T20Is, breaking the record of 105 between Rizwan and Haider Ali.
Rizwan was unbeaten on 75 off 46 thanks to four sixes and six fours, while Fakhar made 78 off 40 with six fours and a six.
Wicket-batsman Azam took the Irish bowlers to task, hitting 30* off 10, which included four maximums.
Earlier, Ireland posted 193/7 after being dismissed by Pakistan, the top scorers at Clontarf Cricket Club.
Pakistan chose to field and got off to a good start with Shaheen Afridi picking the first two wickets. He dismissed Paul Stirling (16) and Andy Balbir (11).
Tector scored 51 from 34 and Tucker was man of the match for the home team with 32 from 28.
Abbas Afridi took two wickets for 33 runs while Naseem Shah took 36 runs.
The draw will be held on April 14 at the same venue.
