DARWIN: After an impressive all-round performance on day three, Pakistan Shaheens will look to win the final day of their second four-dayer against Bangladesh.
The Shaheens were three at their best on the day as they finished the game after posting 136 runs for the loss of wickets with captain Sahibzada Farhan starring with a brilliant half-century.
They still need 160 runs with six wickets in hand to win the four-day match before the white-ball matches begin.
The third day started with Bangladesh resuming their innings at 84-3 but they were outclassed by the Shaheens bowling and were soon bowled out for 216 runs.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 65 runs with 11 fours and was the top scorer for his team. Afif Hossain gave him big support as he posted 58 runs with 10 boundaries.
The highlight of the day was the parade of Pakistani bowlers. On the third day, they took the remaining seven wickets for just 132 runs. Mohammad Ali’s heroics led to Bangladesh’s early dismissal as he picked up six wickets in 63 runs while Khurram Shehzad picked three wickets.
Chasing the target, Pakistan Shaheen started with a strong display from Farhan and Haseebullah as the two put on a 96-run partnership.
Farhan played a quick innings and scored 68 runs with ten fours and two sixes in just 70 balls. However, after the captain’s departure, two other batsmen, Kamran Ghulam and Umar Amin, were removed for the ducks, while Irfan Khan dispatched 15 runs before losing his wicket.
The day ended with Hasenullah (44) and Tayyab Tahir (4) not out.
