Kotli: Chaudhry Muhammad Ghalib, a central leader of Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir, has announced his departure from the party due to disagreements with the party’s president, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, and its anti-people policies ¹. This decision was made public during a press conference at Ghalib’s residence, attended by prominent political figures, including President District Bar Association Chaudhry Muhammad Razak Advocate and social leader Babar Baig.
Ghalib expressed his dissatisfaction with Yasin’s leadership, stating that he joined the Pakistan Students Federation (PSF) in 1986, while Yasin joined the Azad Muslim Conference in 1990. He criticized Yasin’s inability to address Kotli’s issues after becoming MLA, which led to disappointment among voters who supported Yasin at Ghalib’s request.
Ghalib emphasized that his decision to leave the PPP is solely due to Yasin’s leadership and not motivated by plans to join another party. Instead, he will consult his supporters to determine his future political course.
In a surprising move, Ghalib praised Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq’s people-friendly initiatives, including:
• Good Governance: promoting merit and transparency in government jobs
• Economic Reforms: saving billions through e-tendering and banning old vehicle auctions
• Social Welfare: establishing a ten billion social protection fund for underprivileged communities
These efforts, according to Ghalib, warrant recognition and appreciation. This development marks a significant shift in Azad Kashmir’s political landscape, and its implications will be closely watched.
