‘Sarv-e-Abarkuh’, World’s longest-lived tree

Located in Abarkuh city of Yazd province in Iran, there exists 4000 years old cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) tree called as ‘Sarv-e-Abarkuh’.

The Iranian authorities have protected the tree as a national natural monument. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions of the desert city of Abarkuh.

The research suggests that this tree may be as old as the Egyptian pyramids
