Islamabad: Allow me to spread my warmest greetings on this day of Russia Day! This national holiday is made in honor of the Motherland, its vast territory, rich history and culture, diverse and beautiful people. Every year this day becomes more important for our nation.
Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Petroleum Minister Dr Musadik Malik, Industry and Production Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, National Assembly member Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Anjum Akil Khan, Sehar Kamran, Honorary Consul attended the Russia Day reception. Russian Ambassador Albert Horov said Russia was striving for a true world order, opposing “massive Western efforts to introduce new colonial practices.”
He welcomed the representatives of the friendly countries of the world at a grand reception organized to celebrate “Russia Day”.
In his speech, Ambassador Horov emphasized the importance of this event and drew attention to Russia’s current geopolitical challenges. “Russia faces most serious challenge in modern history with special military operation in Ukraine”.
The Ambassador said that he was happy to welcome the diverse alliance, noting the possibility of achieving unexpected achievements through joint efforts.
In 2024, Russia assumes the chairmanship of prominent international and regional associations such as BRICS and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The Ambassador outlined Russia’s priorities during the CIS presidency, which include deepening economic integration, strengthening foreign policy coordination, strengthening joint response mechanisms for common and emerging challenges, and expanding cultural and humanitarian relations.
As for the BRICS partnership, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of multilateralism, respect for international law based on the UN Charter, safeguarding international peace and security, ensuring sustainable development, and respecting the rights and freedoms of all, regardless of nationality, religion or race.
He stressed the importance of rejecting unilateral approaches and restrictive measures that adversely affect the global economy.
The Ambassador stressed Russia’s commitment to solving regional problems and solving international problems. He drew attention to the role of Russia in solving the situation in Gaza based on the resolution of the UN Security Council and the General Assembly aimed at establishing a full-fledged Palestinian state.
Reflecting on his six-month tenure in Pakistan, the ambassador recognized the great potential for deepening and strengthening relations between the two countries. Noting that bilateral trade has exceeded 1 billion dollars last year, he expressed hope for further growth.
“Russia is very close to Pakistan in various international forums such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” the ambassador said.
He appreciated Pakistan’s independent and independent stance on important global issues and welcomed the growing bilateral trade.
Also, Albert Horow specially welcomed the chief guest, Minister of Oil Musadik Masood Malik, whose presence emphasized the importance of energy and security cooperation in bilateral relations between Russia and Pakistan.
In addition to energy cooperation, the ambassador said Russia is committed to developing the Russian language in Pakistan and strengthening cooperation in the fields of science, culture and education.
At the reception, Russian representatives expressed confidence in the possibility of continued cooperation and mutual success between Russia and its international partners.
