SWAT: The founding members of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Swat expressed serious reservations and demanded justice from the party leadership after the party ignored them and issued tickets to newly joined people.
Led by Malik Asif Shahzad, the founding worker of PTI and former president of Insaf Youth Wing, addressing a press conference at Swat Press Club, he said that for the last 15 years, they have stood with Tehreek-e-Insaf and Imran Khan’s vision. They suffered every kind of trouble and injustice.
“From the sit-in in Islamabad to the events of May 9, we stood as soldiers even in difficult situations,” he said, adding that they endured the hardships of imprisonment but did not retreat from his vision despite suffering continuously.
“For the last 15 years, we, along with our family members and friends, ran campaigns actively. We knocked on every door in Upper Swat and Swat Kohistan,” he said.
He said that for supporting his leader, Imran Khan, several cases have been registered against him, including anti-terrorism cases.
“I was charged in 56 various cases, including anti-terrorism sections. I was imprisoned for committing no crime and was tortured. Still, none of us left PTI and Imran’s company,” he said, adding that despite cases and torture, they continued Imran Khan’s mission.
He said he would continue Imran’s vision and serve his people politically.
“I was ignored in the 2013 and 2018 elections and happily accepted the party’s leadership decision. Even then, I did not get a ticket in the local body elections,” he said.
