ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has opposed the ad hoc appointment of Supreme Court (SC) judges, calling it a dishonest move.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar stressed that the matter had been referred to the Supreme Judicial Council to prevent what he described as an attempt to install “like-minded judges”.
“The four judges are being installed during the holidays, the issue of the judges should not be controversial,” added a top PTI official.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Omar Ayub criticized what he called the fabrication of cases against members of their party’s National Assembly. He condemns the cases against Imran Khan and other party leaders, describing them as baseless allegations aimed at tarnishing their reputation.
Ayub also highlighted the re-arrest of Bushra Bibi by the NAB team on what he termed false charges. Omrar Ayub approached Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and requested that PTI cases should not be heard by ad hoc judges.
“No one can point fingers at our patriotism,” PTI general secretary added.
Senator Shibli Faraz added to the criticism that the current state of affairs in the country and the system has been seriously damaged during the last two years.
He expressed concern that the ruling elite had failed to understand the importance of public opinion and warned against any attempt to curtail the party.
Echoing similar sentiments, PTI leader Asad Qaiser lamented the prevailing anarchy in the country and alleged that Pakistan has become a lawless country where coercion and extortion are rampant.
