Islamabad: Mianwali Police in collaboration with Islamabad Police raided the house of Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub Khan.
The raid was carried out in Islamabad on Sunday but did not lead to any arrests as the PTI leader was not at his home.
Police targeted F-10 Omar Ayub’s residence in Islamabad as part of an ongoing investigation.
Ayub is wanted in connection with an anti-terrorism case, an anti-terrorism court in Sargodha has issued an arrest warrant.
Police continue to search for opposition leaders, who are believed to be involved in activities related to anti-terror laws.
Ayub confirmed the attack and said, “Islamabad and Mianwali police raided my house. Sargodha ATC issued an arrest warrant against me.”
“Federal and provincial government agencies are trying to arrest opposition leaders by producing Form 47,” he said.
“Make it clear that our struggle will continue until the founder of PTI becomes the prime minister,” he said.
Last month, PTI’s parliamentary faction disagreed with Imran Khan’s initial decision to accept Ayub’s resignation and demanded Ayub’s replacement.
The request comes within 24 hours of the jailed PTI founder’s approval of Ayub’s resignation, which saw Ayub lead the opposition in the National Assembly.
Ayub’s resignation has added to the uncertainty amid reports of internal rifts and confusion in the PTI. While the party is planning rallies to unseat Imran Khan, Ayub’s removal from the main party role is intended to allow him to focus on parliamentary affairs.
