Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been known for its history of staging long marches and famous sit-ins in the past. In this series, preparations for another gathering have commenced. However, the government faced difficulty in deciding the venue for the gathering, leading Advocate Shoaib Shahin to file a petition in the Islamabad High Court regarding the matter. Justice Babar Sattar heard the plea filed by Amir Masood in relation to the venue for the gathering.
The Islamabad district administration granted permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold the gathering near Tarnol Chowk on July 6. The Islamabad High Court rejected the plea filed by Amir Masood upon receiving the NOC. The district administration informed the Islamabad High Court. Justice Babar Sattar heard the request regarding the PTI’s gathering.
The petitioner’s lawyer stated that they met with the Deputy Commissioner on June 26 regarding the court order. They contacted the Deputy Commissioner 20 times from June 26 to yesterday. We were not given an NOC, but the court was informed a day ago. We were not given time to prepare for the gathering.
Justice Babar Sattar remarked that the district administration has granted you permission for the gathering. You cannot argue about everything. You are a major party; you will dismiss people in a few hours. What do you say about bringing Deputy Commissioner and other people out? After hearing the case, Shoaib Shahin and Amir Masood gave a press talk. In which they expressed their determination to prepare for the gathering. And the public was told that the gathering will definitely take place no matter what happens. If it rains, storm comes, workers will come out of their homes against corruption, poverty, unemployment.
