RAWALPINDI: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Barrister Gohar said that party founder Imran Khan has given a green signal to talk to government.
“We told the Imran Khan that talks are necessary because gap is widening. He agreed with us on this issue,” said Gohar, a reporter outside Adiala Jail.
According to Gohar, Khan wants the channels of dialogue to be opened. He told reporters that he was willing to forgive what happened for the sake of reconciliation with Khan
“I am ready to forgive what happened to me,” the PTI chief said several times.
“The option given by the SC is also being examined,” said Barrister Gohar when asked whether the talks would be conducted on the advice of the Supreme Court.
However, he said it was PTI’s “own decision” to hold talks.
“The founder of PTI did not write to the SC for talks. PTI will also respond to the possibility of talks.”
Gohar said the party would start talks after talking to Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
He said there is an alliance with Achakzai and other parties, and his party will give them confidence.
“Negotiations can be held at the union level as well. PTI can initiate it itself,” the party chief said, adding that there is no other way but negotiations.
“We have never refused to negotiate. The ice is broken. We want to improve,” Gohar said, adding that the PTI’s offer of talks should not be interpreted as a deal.
Sources told that the PTI leader’s speech came as Khan decided to “back down” from his firm stand and ordered the party leadership to communicate inside and outside Parliament.
Sources said the party’s leadership is focused on holding talks with several political parties outside Parliament, and its members of parliament have also been asked to develop ties with the party in the governing coalition government.
Gohar told reporters that the party founder was meeting with a lawyer today and was not allowed to talk to his sons.
The PTI founder’s decision came after he attended a hearing at the Supreme Court with Chief Justice of Pakistan Kazi Faez Isa.
In a hearing on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendment bill, CJP Isa Khan suggested going to Parliament to resolve Pakistan’s problem as it was “necessary for a developed country”.
According to sources, the former prime minister authorized a three-member committee of the party to contact the organization.
