According to sources, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has decided to “backtrack” on his hardline stance and ordered party leaders to reach out inside and outside Parliament to ease the ongoing political tension.
According to the source, the party leader will hold a discussion with various political parties outside the DPR, while members of the DPRD will develop relations with the party in the ruling coalition government.
The PTI founder’s decision came after he interacted with Chief Justice of Pakistan Kazi Faez Isa when he attended the Supreme Court hearing the day before.
In a hearing on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendment bill, CJP Isa Khan suggested going to Parliament to resolve Pakistan’s problem as it was “necessary for a developed country”.
The jailed PTI founder – who has been in jail since August 2023 – has faced political “victimization” since he was ousted from power in April 2022 when he appeared.
According to sources, the former prime minister authorized a committee of three party members to contact the organization.
On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also engaged in door-to-door communication.
Sources revealed that PTI has decided to support the country for political and economic stability to reduce tension.
“The party will move forward by holding talks on many issues, including in the committees of the Senate and the National Assembly,” he said.
‘Han was asked to sign the contract and leave the country’
Former PTI president and leader Dr Arif Alvi said on June 5 that the jailed party founder had been told to “sign the contract and leave the country”.
Alvi said Khan rejected the offer and was determined not to leave the country “under any circumstances”.
The former president predicted that those who planned to assassinate former prime minister Khan would fail miserably.
Commenting on the talks, the politician said his party is ready to hold talks “with stakeholders, not with stakeholders”. He asked the interested parties to stop hating and show mercy.
He also said that the stakeholders should not fear any risk after the release of the PTI founder. Alvi demanded the release of the former prime minister, the rule of law in the country and the return of the party’s mandate.
He also said that Alvi’s party could not hold the “weak” incumbent who came to power through “Form 47” and had no power to take decisions.
On June 5, he said his party would hold talks with people who have real power to make decisions.
