LAHORE: Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bukhari on Wednesday said that religious minorities have always been important for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Speaking to the mediapersons at DGPR, Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz said that religious minorities are given priority and for this act, Pakistan deserves the praise of the whole world. He said, yesterday many important decisions have been made in the provincial cabinet and the 400 billion rupiah Kisan card has also been approved. The CM said that he is working on a project which was not promised during the election campaign, 100,000 houses will be constructed in all districts of Punjab and the CM will inaugurate the project on August 14.
The information minister said that the previous government had borrowed billions of rupees but did not build a single house.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said that our government will provide electric bicycles to orphans. He said that a tragic incident could have happened in Sargodha, but our government prevented it from happening. Extremism has become a big problem for us and “We have to eliminate extremism from our country,” he said.
State Minority Affairs Minister Ramesh Singh Arora said that the Sikh Marriage Act was introduced as a personal law, the Bill was passed but unfortunately was not taken seriously by the previous government. He said the ordinance was implemented in a record three months under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, making Punjab the first province to implement the Sikh Marriage Act. “I am grateful to the leaders of PML!N, especially the CM and all the ministers who passed this law.”
He said that Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had earlier said that the heads of religious minorities were crowned and on the occasion of Easter he came to Maryamabad and distributed grants to 10,000 families. Baishi Mela was also inaugurated by Maryam Nawaz herself.
Ramesh Singh Arora said that the entire team of the Human Rights Department is showing good performance and a five-year road map is being prepared by the department. He also said that he was working on the Indian Marriage Act
