UPPER DIR: All primary schools in Upper Dir district will be closed indefinitely as part of a strike by the all Primary Teachers Association (APTA) to press for their demands of the upgradation of primary school teachers.this decision was announced by APTA District President Muhammad Zeb, Head Teachers Association President Ikramullah, and Chairman Aziz Uohaq during a press conference in Dir. Muhammad Zeb district president Upper Dir has said that the strike is in response to the non-implementation of the upgradation announcement made by the previous PTI provincial government on June 17, 2023. The teachers demand that the provincial government, which is still led by the same party, fulfill their legitimate demand.
Aziz ulhaq and Ikramullah reiterated that primary schools in Upper Dir district will be remain closed until the demands are met.he said all male teachers will participate in the Peshawar sit-in, while female teachers will stay home instead of attending school.
Educational officers are advised not to visit schools, as this will be considered against the teachers. Provincial Government Responsibility The teachers hold the provincial government responsible for fulfilling their demands
The teachers have visited all schools in the district and have consensus on keeping the schools closed until the upgradation is approved. If the government fails to meet their demands, the teachers will take further action.
