Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for more Chinese investment in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two sister countries. Pakistani cuisine
He also emphasized the need to develop cooperation between the people of the two countries, especially investors and businesses, to develop bilateral trade and economic relations.
The President expressed this view while talking to a Chinese business delegation led by Chinese Consul General in Karachi Yang Undundong at Bilawal House in Karachi.
Sindh Chief Minister, Transport and Information Minister Syed Myrat Ali Shah, Energy, Planning and Development Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Special Assistant for Investment and Private Partnership Minister Syed Qasim N Kamar also attended the meeting.
The group expressed interest in investing $1 billion to establish a medical city in Pakistan to develop the country’s healthcare sector.
The delegation also expressed interest in investing in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy, particularly agriculture, livestock, energy, transportation and manufacturing.
Welcoming the delegation, the President said that apart from deep and historic brotherly ties, Pakistan and China share common interests and views on important issues.
“We have been close friends for several decades and making Gawadar port as a regional trade and economic hub will not only increase regional connectivity but also increase regional trade and economic cooperation,” he said.

The President said that Chinese language courses have been opened in Sindh, which will be an important step in strengthening people-to-people and cultural ties between Pakistan and China.
