Taxila: The Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) history is marked by struggles and sacrifices, particularly those made by its leaders, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who gave their lives for the poor and laborers of Pakistan. This sentiment was expressed by Chaudhry Zaheer Sultan, President of PPP Rawalpindi District, during a ceremony held in honor of newly elected President of PPP Taxila, Malik Asif Mehmood, and Syed Zia Hussain Shah, who was elected as a member of the Punjab Council.
The event was organized by the Indus Tour Club, Ewan-e-Danish, and Halqa-e-Sukhan Potohar. Malik Asif Mehmood pledged to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to him by the party leadership. Syed Zia Hussain Shah emphasized that PPP is a party of loyalists and has consistently fought against the class system throughout its history.
Other notable speakers at the event included Malik Najeeb ur Rehman Arshad, Liaqat Khan, Raja Mansoor Ahmed, Agha Akhtar Naqvi, Ashfaq Ahmed Bhatti, Syed Jabir Naqvi Advocate, and Raja Ejaz Gohar. The ceremony also marked the inauguration of the PPP Public Secretariat in Taxila and the announcement of awards for Raja Ejaz Gohar and Arshad Kamal by Ewan-e-Danish.
