SWAT: The Population Council of Pakistan, while presenting the analysis of the election manifestos of the four major political parties of the country, has expressed hope that the chief ministers of the four provinces, including the elected prime minister, will use the strategy to balance the growing population and resources in the country in their opening speech. and priorities and will lay the foundation for a lasting policy towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals that will set a positive direction for all future governments.
While addressing the inter-provincial media meeting organized by Population Council Pakistan, Senior Director Programs of Population Council Pakistan Dr. Ali Mai, Senior Project Director Samia Ali, Senior Communication Officer Ikram Ahad, Central Vice President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Saleem Shahid and The participants, who attended from all four provinces, said that balancing the growing population and resources should be top priorities at both the federal and provincial levels.
The speakers said that the rapid increase in population and rapid decrease in resources has become one of the major problems of Pakistan, so there is a need to take such measures ,in which the growing population should be invested in this way as well as the economic opportunities can be provided for all types of people. The participants said that the growing unruly and uncontrollable population in Pakistan is putting severe pressure on the country’s resources, especially the limited natural resources and this situation may turn into a crisis in the near future.
“In this regard, the increasing burden on the water reservoirs may expose the country to a disturbing situation.” The speakers said. They said that in all such situations, it is important for the main political parties of the country to realize the ground realities and ensure the implementation of the election manifesto presented in the recent elections. The speakers further said that media persons have a heavy national responsibility to keep reminding various government figures and party leaders of the priorities of the manifesto presented on population welfare at key events and gatherings and among other questions, which Make them accountable in the society through questions based on the balance of population and resources so that the serious problems of the growing population in the leadership receive continuous attention. “In this context the continuity of coordinated policies and initiatives at the national and provincial levels is maintained.”
