SWAT: At least two officers of pokice including a sub-inspector were injured in firing at a police party in the Bazkhela area of Tehsil Matta of Swat district , while two assailants were also killed in the retaliatory firing by the police. Officials confirmed.
According to District Police Officer Swat Dr. Zahidullah, Sub-Inspector Noor Wali Shah, incharge of the Asharay police post, was going to Bazakhela area along with the police party in a private motorcar after receiving information about the shooting.
“Taking advantage of the darkness of the night, unknown masked men set up barricades on the road and the masked men opened fire on them, added that as result A Sub-Inspector Noor Wali Shah and the driver Zakaria were injured and their car fell into the ditch below. The police retaliated and killed two attackers, whose names have been identified as Ahmad Hussain son of Aman Mulk and Zahir Khan son of Umara Khan, residents of Janu Khwazakhela, while the other three attackers fled the scene, he said.
After the incident, a heavy police force arrived, while the residents of the area also made announcements in the mosques to help the police.
The police and local people surrounded the area and seized the bodies of the masked attackers.
The injured officials were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Matta and later to Saidu teaching Hospital for medical assistance.
He said that the bodies of the attackers were also shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem.
“After legal proceedings, the bodies were handed over to the next of kin,” he said.
The Matta police have registered a case against the two attackers who were killed and the other three who escaped under terrorism, attempted murder, causing damage, interference in the work of the government and challenging the government writ, among other provisions.
To investigate this incident, District Police Officer Swat Dr. Zahadullah has formed an 8-member committee headed by SP Investigation Swat.
