ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reiterated that Pakistan will continue moral and diplomatic support to the Palestinian people until their liberation from Zionist occupation and the creation of an independent Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders.
In his message on Quds Day, celebrated annually on the last Friday of Holy Ramazan (Jumuat-ul-Wida), the Prime Minister said that the entire nation of Pakistan condemned the Zionist oppression. He said that for the past seven decades, Israel has illegally occupied Palestine and Jerusalem and has continuously violated international law and human rights to maintain its occupation while the international community has acted as a silent spectator.
The Prime Minister said that the Israeli occupation and atrocities have lasted for the past seven decades, but their intensity has increased manifold since October last year.
“So far, 32,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, including 17,000 children, and 70,000 have been injured. Hospitals, refugee camps and schools have been targeted. Despite the UN Security Council’s cease-fire resolution, Israel’s unprovoked bombing of innocent Gaza civilians continues,” the Prime Minister commented.
He reiterated Pakistan’s demand that the international community play its role in pressuring Israel to stop the oppression against the Palestinian people.
He also asked Muslims in Pakistan and around the world, while celebrating the last Friday of Holy Ramazan, to specially pray for their Palestinian and Kashmiri brothers and sisters for their salvation from atrocities.
He also called for prayers for the peace, security and prosperity of Pakistan and its relief from economic problems.
