Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday assured that the government has decided to investigate the threat letters received by several judges including the Chief Justice of Pakistan Kazi Faez Isa.
“The government of Pakistan will investigate the threatening letters [to the judge],” said Prime Minister Shehbaz today while chairing the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad.
The prime minister’s statement came after several judges of the Supreme Court (SC), Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Lahore High Court (LHC) received threatening letters.
Among those who received such letters in the SC on Wednesday were CJP Isa, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Aminuddin Khan.
The security letter issue came a day after the suo motu notice was issued by the IHC justice and other judges against the internal body.
Commenting on the government’s proposals to address the economic challenges facing the country, the prime minister said the International Monetary Fund would this month disburse the final $1.1 billion tranche of the $3 billion independence accord with Islamabad. .
However, Prime Minister Shehbaz added that Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb would work with Washington-based lenders to secure another loan.
Addressing the privatization issue, the Prime Minister assured that the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatization plan will be fully implemented.
Meanwhile, he said, a delegation of Turkish companies will also visit Pakistan on the issue of outsourcing our country’s airport.
The prime minister also said that he will work with provincial authorities to ensure the foolproof security of Chinese citizens in the country.
“Our main objective is to ensure safe security for the Chinese people,” Shehbaz said of the attack that killed six people, including six Chinese engineers, in Besham, Shangla.
