Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday invited Chinese textile companies to set up their factories in Pakistan and said his government will provide all possible opportunities to Chinese investors and industrialists.
In the Pakistan-China cooperation meeting, the Prime Minister said that China is a key partner in the development of Pakistan and Pakistan wants to develop cooperation in agriculture, information technology and energy sectors as well as increase exports to China.
During the meeting, various ministries presented their proposals to develop Pak-China economic relations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated the government’s commitment to provide unwavering security to Chinese nationals working in Pakistan and said security plans have been drawn up.
He informed the meeting participants that the government is preparing the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and expressed hope that Gwadar port will become a logistics hub with China’s cooperation.
Shehbaz said that an agricultural demonstration zone would be set up in the second phase of CPEC. He instructed the ministry to implement new projects with Chinese cooperation and develop business-to-business relations.
Shehbaz also said that China can help Pakistan in formulating a strategy to increase its exports.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbalb, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Chema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Dr Musaddiq Malik and relevant officials.
