RAWALPINDI: Senior PTI leader and Leader of Opposition Omar Ayub has said that the current government has failed and the public should prepare for fresh elections.
In a press conference, senior PTI official and opposition leader Omar Ayub said that all CCTV footage of the May 9 events should be released, including footage outside Zaman Park and the Judicial Complex, which he claimed had been deleted.
Omar Ayub said hiding CCTV footage is also a crime. He mentioned that he had a pleasant meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan today. He emphasized that PTI is the largest party in Pakistan and that the nation should prepare for new elections which he believes will lead to the development of the country.
He said that the government led by Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz is sinking and they have deployed the army which should not have happened. He argued that the public and the Pakistan Army should never be in conflict and the only solution to all problems is to hold fresh elections in the country.
Omar Ayub further mentioned that PTI founder Imran Khan had called for peaceful protests on Friday and praised Punjab leader Malik Ahmad Bhachar for his performance. He sought permission to hold a rally to be led by Ali Amin Gandapur on August 5 in Islamabad.
He added that from the beginning, the PTI had alleged that the Election Commission had misinterpreted the Constitution and demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and all the four provincial election commissioners. He also suggested that Article 6 should apply to the Chief Election Commissioner.
The PTI leader noted that someone like Khawaja Asif is of no importance and that anti-corruption officials are arresting their people, creating a difficult environment for negotiations. He alleged that the Shahbaz Sharif government was pitting the army and PTI in opposition.
Omar Ayub concluded by stating that he will never allow the current government’s ambitions to succeed and that the military becomes stronger when the people stand behind it.
