Muzaffarabad: Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir demanded the base camp government to rename the Chakothi Bridge and Chakothi ti Srinagar Highway as Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bridge and highway regarding his exemplary struggle for Kashmir freedom movement.
While paying homage to the great leader of Kashmir Resistance Movement Sheikh Abdul Aziz Shaheed on his 16th martyrdom day, Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, Vice Chairman Usman Ali Hashim said in a joint statement that Aziz was leader who was fearless, bold and had a special position in Kashmir freedom movement.
They were of the view that Sheikh sacrificed the last day of his life and his last breath for freedom.
They called upon the Azad Kashmir government to pay tribute to the historic and unprecedented sacrifice of the great Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz Shaheed by naming the Chakothi Bridge on his name.
Speakers said that Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz was an ardent supporter of the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan.
“Keeping his promise, he was martyred along with other comrades while leading a convoy near Uri on August 11, 2008”, they added.
They said that the Kashmiri people will continue their resistance against Indian oppression in any case until the India agrees to give the people of the state the right to vote.
