LAHORE: In a bid to find talent at the local level, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to hold open trials for women cricketers across the country from August 5 (today).
This will be the first ever open trials organized in the Sost Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, which is known for its unique beauty and passionate cricketing community.
The PCB will conduct the tests in two phases. The first phase will be held from August 5 to 7 in Gilgit, Hunza and Sosts and the second phase will begin on August 21 and continue till September 3.
In case of rainy weather, the tests of the respective city will take place between September 4 and 5
The courts will be presided over by former international cricketers Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima, members of the women’s national selection committee, as they will include two categories – U19 and emerging.
Players born on or after September 1, 2005 will be eligible for U19 trials.
“In the second phase, players can apply for the trials by filling an online form which will be available in due course. Players will have to bring their completed forms with original and copy of birth certificates/Bforms/CNICs to the trials.
“For the convenience of the players, they can also get registered at the ground,” the PCB said in a press release.

First stage:
5th August – Venue: Girls Cricket Ground Public School and College Cricket, Gilgit. Selection: Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima
August 6 – Venue: Boys Degree College Ground, Hunza. Selection: Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima
August 7 – Venue: Sost Valley, Hussainabad Cricket Ground, Hunza. Selection: Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima
Second phase:
August 21 – Venue: Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre, Karachi. Pick: Asad Shafiq
August 22 – Venue: Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala. Selection: Batool Fatima
August 23 – Venue: Crescent Cricket Ground, Sialkot. Pick: Asad Shafiq
August 26 – Venue: LCCA, Lahore. Selection: Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima
