RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued strict instructions to the curators at the Pindi Cricket Stadium to make “moderate” pitches for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 matches, sources reported on Wednesday.
In recent years, the pitches at Pindi stadium have favoured batters massively and fans have witnessed some of the high-scoring matches at the venue. Two of the highest totals — Multan Sultans scoring 262 against Quetta Gladiators and Quetta scoring 253 against Multan in the same match — in PSL history were scored at Pindi.
However, the PCB has decided to remove the “flat pitches” tag associated with the stadium as the cricketing body has instructed the curators to make pitches that would support bowlers as much as batters.
The PCB further instructed not to reduce the boundary size so that the fans get to see an even encounter between batters and the bowlers.
Five pitches will be used for PSL 9 matches at the Pindi stadium.
