LONDON: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Tony Hemming as the new Chief Curator on a two-year contract.
The West Australian will arrive in Lahore on Wednesday to take up his role.
One of Hemming’s immediate tasks will be field preparation for the upcoming five ICC World Test Championship matches against Bangladesh (two in August/September) and England (three in October).
Hemming will also oversee the pitch preparation for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host from February 19 to March 9.
Hemming is a highly regarded curator with nearly four decades of experience. He has worked at various iconic cricket grounds in Australia, including Melbourne, Perth and Tasmania, as well as countries such as Bangladesh, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, where he was the Chief Curator of the ICC in Dubai from 2007 to 2017. .
During his time at the ICC, Hemming also oversaw the pitch preparation at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, which was one of Pakistan’s home venues from 2009 to 2019.
It should be noted that Hemming replaced Zahid, who started his career by joining the PCB Curators Committee in 2001. Zahid was later appointed Chief Curator in 2004. He resigned from the role in 2020, but was reappointed by former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja. in 2021.
