LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the new seven-member selection committee for the Pakistan cricket team at a press conference in Lahore on Sunday.
The previous panel headed by Wahab Riaz was dissolved this morning, after which a reorganized selection panel was announced.
The PCB boss confirmed that the committee will no longer have a chairman and each member will have equal authority so that decision-making remains smooth.
“We have reorganized this selection committee, this [selection committee] will consist of seven members, but what is different this time, there will be no chairman selection committee, each member would have the same authority as the other,” Naqvi told the presser.
“The decision would be [decided] on the majority, they should discuss and talk among themselves so that a better conclusion can be reached. The previous structure of the committee was different, but this one, I assure you, each member was selected after considering multiple factors.”
Former cricketers Mohammad Yousuf, Wahab Riaz, Abdul Razzaq and Asad Shafiq will comprise the selection committee, Naqvi said, adding that the other members will be the head coach, captain and analyst.
He added that there will be two to three coordinators, but they will not have any voting powers.
“This committee will take every single decision from now on. It is our key management players who will take decisions and I am sure they will deliver good results,” the PCB chairman said.
“The chairman should have no role in the selection process, we are the management and our job is to manage the team. I hope these new members bring you positive results.
About the team’s coaches, Naqvi said that the management is working on it. He said PCB is making a proper panel for coaches which is in final stage.
Naqvi said national and international trainers will be there and it will be completed in four to five days.
