Muzaffarabad: Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Uzair Ahmed Ghazali has said that India is conspiring to change the Muslim identity of the state by forcing Muslims to migrate from the state of Jammu and Kashmir under a systematic conspiracy and state oppression.
On the occasion of International Refugee Day, he said that since 1947, thousands of Kashmiri families were forced to migrate, adding that the Indian government, through its forces, Hindu terrorist organizations and secret agencies, has taken the Muslim citizens of the occupied state their homes, forcing them to migrate by leaving their properties.
He lamented that in 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1989, millions of Muslim citizens were forced to migrate due to the conspiracies of the government of India and the atrocities of its forces.
Uzair said that due to the massacre tragedy of November 6, 1947 and the migration of millions of families, the dominant Muslim majority of Jammu province was turned into a minority.
“Hindu extremist organizations Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena, Rashtriya Sevak Sangh, Sikh Jathas and Dogra soldiers killed and forced Muslims to migrate at the behest of the Indian government”, he added.
Ghazali said that since 1989, the Indian government has continued the massacre of civilians in Occupied Kashmir, more than 100,000 Kashmiri civilians have been martyred and nearly 8,500 families have been forced to leave the Kashmir Valley.
He said that on the occasion of International Refugee Day, the international community should hold India accountable for the war crimes due to which local citizens are being forced to migrate from Jammu and Kashmir.
Uzair said that even today, India is creating a situation of fear and terror in occupied Kashmir by occupying the lands of the local citizens, confiscating and demolishing their properties.
He appealed to the United Nations to ensure the preservation of Kashmir’s Muslim identity and the protection of living with all basic human rights.
He also demanded the United Nations to give the Kashmiri people the right of referendum to determine and decide their political future according to its resolutions.
He praised Pakistan’s efforts towards the Kashmir freedom movement, saying that the Pakistani government and people have given shelter to about 1.6 million Kashmiri refugees since 1947 and kept them with full respect and dignity.
He also demanded Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq on the occasion of International Refugee Day to take steps to solve various problems faced by Kashmiri migrants.
Ghazali added that after 1989, 8500 Kashmiri refugee families are facing serious problems of housing which needs attention of both state and federal government.
