charge
An anti-corruption court in Lahore has invited Parvez Elahi and other accused to appear in the next hearing on May 13 in the case of illegal recruitment to the Punjab Assembly.
The former prime minister was not brought to court on May 1 in the trial. Instead, a medical certificate is given.
According to the medical report, Parvez Elahi could not attend the trial due to a broken bone caused by the collapse of the washhouse. The report said that the former CM has been advised to take bed rest for three weeks and will not be able to travel during this time.
The court adjourned the hearing and called the next hearing on May 13 to indict Parvez Elahi and 10 other accused.
Foreclosure of the house
On May 6, the Islamabad High Court ordered the Interior Ministry to end the house arrest of the former Punjab chief minister within 15 days.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of the IHC issued the order on a petition filed by Parvez Elahi’s wife, Kaisra Elahi.
The court ordered Elahi to be under house arrest, taking into account his old age and health problems.
The court also ordered that the former prime minister be provided with adequate medical treatment and facilities while under house arrest.
On May 2, the court reserved its verdict on a lawsuit challenging the transfer of Pervez Elahi from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail to Lahore.
In March, Parvez Elahi suffered a broken bone after falling in a prison bathroom. PTI Punjab chapter chief was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) several times from Adiala Jail when his health deteriorated.
The former CM has been arrested several times since June last year, most recently in September on charges of illegal recruitment to the Punjab Assembly.
