Karachi: Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been finalised, according to sources.
Babar Azam will lead the 15-member squad, while pacer Haris Rauf has also been included after recovering from injury.
Hasan Ali, Salman Ali Agha and Irfan Khan will travel with the team as reserves for the World Cup.
Babar Azam (c), Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Rizwan, Usman Khan, Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub, Iftikhar Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi, Muhammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Abbas Afridi and Haris Rauf.
Defenders: Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Ali and Irfan Khan.
The PCB will officially announce its squad after the first T20I match against England on May 22 as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has set a deadline of May 25 to announce the 15-member World Cup squad.
Pakistan is in Group A of the World Cup with its main rivals India, Ireland, Canada and USA.
The national team will play their first T20 World Cup against USA on June 6 in Dallas. The most awaited titanic clash between Pakistan and India will take place on June 9 (Sunday) in New York.
After completing the three-match T20I series against Ireland, the Green Shirts arrive in England to play four T20s between May 22 and May 30, which will be their last appearance before the mega event.
It should be noted that the T20I series will be very important for both teams as the World Cup will start in USA two days after its conclusion.
