KARACHI: The three shooters shortlisted for the Paris 2024 Olympics have completed their preparations during a training camp in Lahore and are confident of winning a medal in the shooting competitions.
Kishmala Talat, GM Bashir and Gulfam Joseph will be in action for Pakistan and have been training under the Russian coach. All three shooters won various medals in various international tournaments and managed to directly qualify for the Paris Olympics.
Kushmala Talat will participate in three events, she will be in action in 10m Air Pistol, 10m Air Pistol Mixed and 25m Sport Pistol.
“I am honored to have qualified and will represent Pakistan at the Olympics. In the [training] camp, I practiced a lot and got stronger mentally and physically. With all the training, I believe I will win a medal,” she said.
Meanwhile, GM Bashir will be in action in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol. Ahead of the event, he said: “During the camp, I not only trained my shooting skills but also worked on myself to stay as fit as possible. That’s why we keep running and swimming and we’ve also been exercising to keep our heart rate low.”
Gulfam Joseph will be in action in the 10m air pistol, while also taking part in the mixed event with Talat.
Pakistani shooters will leave for France on July 19 and will also get a chance to practice before the competition at the venue.
