Renowned Pakistani filmmaker Syed Noor and other artists have announced that they will return their government honors, stating that these awards have merely become ornamental on the wall.
They expressed that the government does not provide any facilities to artists, neither do they get the opportunity to travel on half-ticket trains nor any discounts for air travel.
This announcement was made during a dinner hosted at actress Meera’s residence in honor of the Pakistan Film Producers Association. Prominent film personalities such as Shehzad Rafiq, Masood Butt, Safdar Malik, Umar Rana, Laila Ali, and singer Waris Baig also attended the dinner. All the attendees applauded Syed Noor’s decision in support of this move.
On this occasion, Umar Rana said, “Some people blame us for the decline of the film industry, but the question is, what have you given us?” Actress Meera stated that if she were to tell the real story of the Pakistan film industry, she would become emotional. She shared that her heart and tears are connected to the industry, and its story cannot be narrated in just a moment.
