Islamabad: Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Welcoming DPM Overchuk and his delegation, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan considers strengthening relations with Russia an important priority of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
The prime minister said Pakistan wants to expand trade, economic, energy, connectivity and security cooperation with Russia, adding that he looks forward to welcoming Russian Prime Minister Mishustin in Islamabad next month.
The Prime Minister recalled that at the beginning of July this year he had a very fruitful discussion with President Vladimir Putin and thanked President Putin for sending a high-level delegation to discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation. DPM Overchuk thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome and reiterated Russia’s determination to deepen relations with Pakistan.
Both parties agreed to maintain regular contacts. The Prime Minister also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Russia and Pakistan, which signifies the mutual understanding and desire of both countries to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of common interest, especially in the fields of trade, investment, energy, IT, agriculture, science. and technology and education.
