ISLAMABAD: Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai Shehzad Ahmad Khan has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to strengthen bilateral relations with China with special focus on the rapidly growing automobile industry. At the opening ceremony of the four-day 2024 Taizhou International Automobile Expo, he said that Taizhou plays a key role as a pioneer in China’s automobile industry, and praised the city’s innovative achievements and significant contribution to the global market. Shehzad emphasized the importance of technological cooperation and highlighted the potential for breakthrough advancements in automotive technology through joint efforts between Pakistani and Chinese enterprises. “Such cooperation can lead to significant progress in knowledge sharing, capacity building and sustainable practices in the industry,” China Economic Net said on Thursday. He further emphasized the need for a comprehensive cooperation framework including research and development, production and market access. “Working together, we can shape a future where clean, efficient and sustainable mobility solutions are available to all,” he added. Taizhou, known as the “first city of private automobile manufacturing” in China, is home to five national automobile industry bases and more than 6,000 enterprises producing automobiles and parts. The Expo covers six exhibition halls with an area of 50,000 square meters and offers 2,500 stands that showcase the latest products and technologies in the industry. On the sidelines of the fair, Shehzad organized an Electric Vehicle (EV) investment conference. The event brought together key stakeholders from both countries, including industry leaders, officials and potential investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s EV sector. Discussions focused on investment prospects in manufacturing, infrastructure development and supply chain management. The 2024 Taizhou International Automobile Exhibition is a significant step to further strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and China, especially in promoting innovation and growth in the automotive industry.
