FAISALABAD: Pakistani squash gamers Ashab Irfan and Asim Khan made an excellent start on the 2024 Charlottesville Open Squash Championship, securing victories of their respective first-spherical fits. Ashab Irfan defeated Guatemala’s Alejandro Enríquez in straight games, winning 3-zero. His dominant performance saw scores of 11-6, 12-10, and 11-4, as he advanced to the following spherical. Asim Khan, after falling behind two video games, staged a first rate comeback to overcome Brazil’s Diego Gobbi with a three-2 victory. Despite losing the primary games five-11 and Sep 11, Asim rallied to win the following 3 video games 11-8, eleven-eight, and eleven-eight. In the second round, Asim will face global No. 45 Yahya El Nawassany of Egypt, whilst Ashab will cross up against Egypt’s Ibrahim Elkabbani. The total prize pool for the Charlottesville Open stands at $28,750, with pinnacle-ranked global players competing. Earlier in July, Khan clinched the Jones Creek Open Squash Championship name within the USA. The final, which provided a prize money of USD 12,000, saw World No. Seventy three defeating his fellow countryman Ashab Irfan via 3-1. The 2nd-seeded Asim triumphed over 1/3-seeded Ashab with rankings of eleven-7, 7-eleven, 4-11, and 4-eleven. This victory marks Asim Khan’s 0.33 PSA title of the year and the tenth of his career. Earlier in 2024, Asim had already clinched two titles, triumphing the Wild Card Challenger in Washington and the Squash Inspire Challenger in March.
