The government of Pakistan has prepared a bill to take action against the smuggling of refugee citizens.
According to the bill, the government has introduced six amendments to the Migrant Smuggling Act 2018. Under the new provisions, anyone providing accommodation or shelter to an illegal foreigner will face imprisonment and fines. Special courts will also be established to prosecute criminals.
Smuggling a refugee citizen will result in 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of one crore rupees. Those involved in forging documents to send refugees abroad will face 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of 50 lakh rupees.
