Islamabad: Pakistan Navy found Defence and Martyrs Day to commemorate very best sacrifices of our Armed Forces, Shuhada, Ghazis and national heroes who stood in opposition to the enemy with extraordinary show of cohesion and tenacity all through 1965 Indo-Pak War.
In his message at the event, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf paid homage to the Shuhada and Ghazis who repulsed blatant aggression of enemy and foiled its nefarious designs with help of our people.
The day shows the spirit of unity and sacrifice in the defence of our motherland and glorifies the brave heroes who were meticulous of their planning, undaunted in their movement and instilled worry within the hearts of our enemy.
The Admiral reiterated that as we commemorate this commemorated occasion to honour the feats and sacrifices of our brave sentinels of sea, our Navy stands vigilant and unfaltering in its dedication to guard maritime borders and secure our vital sea routes which might be the lifeline of our financial system.
The day dawned with unique prayers presented in all naval mosques for renovation of integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan. Quran Khawanis had been held for Shuhada of the 1965 conflict. Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami laid floral wreath at Shuhada’s Monument at Naval Headquarters Islamabad, supplied Fateha and interacted with the families of Shuhada.
Wreath laying ceremonies and Fateha Khawani have been also held at Shuhada’s memorials at Field Command Headquarters. Flag hoisting ceremonies had been held at all naval gadgets and institutions in which Commanding Officers addressed special gatherings of officers and guys and highlighted the importance of the day. All ships and institutions have been embellished and illuminated according with naval traditions.
