Islamabad: H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan Mr. Park Ki-joon called Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The Korean Ambassador congratulated the Prime Minister on his re-election on behalf of the Korean leader. The Prime Minister thanked the Korean leaders for their warm greetings and expressed the desire to work closely to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and Korea enjoy good relations, especially in trade and investment. He said the two countries have been working together for economic development since the early 1960s and praised Korea’s transformation into a technologically advanced modern economy. He also said that Pakistan wants to learn from Korea’s experience in the field of IT, such as industrialization and development of the SME sector, as well as artificial intelligence. The prime minister also suggested increasing the export of skilled manpower from Pakistan to meet Korea’s human resource needs.
He proposed an exchange of business delegations between Seoul and Islamabad to promote mutually beneficial trade. In this regard, the Prime Minister said that he will instruct the relevant Cabinet of Ministers to coordinate with the Korean side to discuss existing investments by Korean companies and explore new opportunities.
The Prime Minister also extended an invitation to the President to arrange an official visit to Pakistan.
The Korean Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for his acceptance and expressed the desire of the Korean government to develop bilateral cooperation with Pakistan, especially in the fields of trade, investment, IT, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
