Pakistan and India exchanged lists of their nuclear facilities and equipment on Wednesday.
The exchange took place in accordance with the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attacks on Nuclear Facilities and Facilities between Pakistan and India.
The agreement, signed on December 31, 1988, provides, among other things, that the two countries will inform each other of their nuclear facilities and facilities falling under its definition by January 1 of each calendar year.
Accordingly, the list of nuclear facilities and equipment in Pakistan was officially handed over to the representative of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad at the Ministry of External Affairs.
At the same time, India’s Ministry of External Affairs handed over a list of India’s nuclear facilities and equipment to a representative of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
Since the Treaty on the Prohibition of Attacks on Nuclear Facilities and Facilities between Pakistan and India entered into force on 27 January 1991, the two countries have been exchanging lists since 1 January 1992.
