Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan attaches great value to its brotherly ties with Bahrain, which are based on shared religion, culture and history. He emphasized the need to transform bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bahrain into a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
The President expressed these views in an interview with the Commander of the National Guard of Bahrain, General Sheikh Mohammad bin Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, who challenged him. The Ambassador of Bahrain to Pakistan Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Abdul Qader was also present at the meeting.
Welcoming the visiting commander, the President said that Pakistan and Bahrain have excellent relations which need to be further strengthened in areas of common interest. He stated that he strongly believes that Pakistan will grow stronger as it has a huge potential to become a prosperous country.
During the meeting, the commander of the Bahrain National Guard congratulated the president on assuming office for the second time and expressed hope that Pakistan would progress under his leadership. He said that the two countries enjoy excellent defense cooperation and expressed gratitude for the supporting role of Pakistan Armed Forces. He also reiterated Bahrain’s continued support to Pakistan.
General Sheikh Mohammad bin Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa invited the President to visit Bahrain.
The President thanked the Commander of the National Guard of Bahrain for his visit and congratulations.
