ISLAMABAD: Speaker Honorable of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said on Thursday that Pakistan has a long-standing relationship with Russia and seeks to develop this relationship by expanding cooperation in various fields, especially in parliament. He addressed these words to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Pakistan H.E. Mr. Albert Horew, who invited him to the House of Commons.
Between the two parliaments, they emphasized regular exchanges and cooperation through parliamentary friendship groups and high-level exchanges as an opportunity to learn from each other and benefit from each other’s experience.
Recalling his initiative to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations during his tenure as Speaker, he spoke about organizing Pakistan’s first six-nation speaker conference. The conference, which was attended by colleagues from Afghanistan, Iran, China, Turkey and Russia, was significant in engaging in several issues of mutual interest. He also said that he had the privilege of being the convener of the Pakistan-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the 15th National Assembly of Pakistan.
The ambassador congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadyk on his re-election and wished him success. He acknowledged the important contribution of the Speaker in strengthening Pakistan-Russia relations and assured continued cooperation to further strengthen bilateral relations.
