ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Chaudhry Salik Hussain said on Tuesday that Pakistan intends to strengthen its relations with Egypt in many areas of mutual interest, including religious education.
He said this during a meeting with the Egyptian ambassador, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan who visited him in his office.
The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Egypt. The two dignitaries also discussed the exchange of mutual studies on strengthening the role of the Masaajid as a center for religious, spiritual, social counseling and social services.
The ambassador informed about the establishment of an institution in Punjab affiliated to Al-Azhar University for imparting religious education. He informed that 11 Egyptian professors were already teaching in various faculties of the International Islamic University in Islamabad.
The ambassador also invited the minister to a conference on the role of women in building awareness.
